Cocoon lamps the early years

Cocoon lamps from the early years are nowadays ranked as classical and in the starting years top designers also started with the creation of this high quality products.
In 1959 Arturo Eisenkeil from Merano(It) became aware of this new technique and started to look for possible application. In his search he joined forces with Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina and set up a company to produce lighting fixtures. This cooperation marked the beginning of a long-standing association in the area of design with the renowned Castiglione brothers and Tobias Scarpa. The first Cocoon lamps of this collaboration were named: Viscontea, Taraxacum and Gatto by the Catiglioni brothers and Fantasma by Scarpa.

Contemporary Lighting by Flos

The final result of this high level cooperation was the founding of Flos in 1962. The very same year they began producing a number of lamps that were to become classics in Italian industrial design. These first lamps were Arco, Relemme, Toio and Taccia — all designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni. As a tangible proof of their timeless design and technical excellence, these lamps continue to be produced today.
